ChartsEngine Changes Hands
What the future holds for chartsEngine with BVG Enterprises

by Björnke von Gierke

Hello. I am Björnke von Gierke, and I have just bought ChartsEngine from debrill Multimedia. It seemed like a very nice opportunity. Now you might say: that's nothing special, and the 90 bucks are a good investment for Björnkes' charting needs. You might continue: stacked line charts and doughnut graphs are useful and fancy, and every product should have at least two. Of each kind, in various visual styles. I agree to that. Nothing says professionalism like a scraggly line pointing upwards.

For some time, it seemed like chartsEngine was not reaching it's full potential. Then derbrill indicated to me, that they want to focus their energy elsewhere. You can see where this is going. I did not buy a license to use ChartsEngine. I bought the whole package, and all your license rights are now coming from me. I jumped at the chance to grow ChartsEngine beyond what it could offer up to now. Because I am really looking forward to take care of your charting needs, and I am chartsseriously enthusiastic about making chartsEngine the best charting package for LiveCode that it can be.

So what are my plans for chartsEngine? First of all, I will release an update with scatter graph. Before RunRevLive, which is in April. Promises are made. Count on them. I have also already made a bug fix release, free to existing users, resolving a number of outstanding issues. More of those are also planned.

Note that introducing scatter graphs is not all I am planning. I am interested in open-high-low charts, spider graphs and gantt charts. But I cannot yet make a firm commitment on which of these I will be able to deliver first, and when they will arrive. I will also investigate blending, fake three-dee, colour presets and other stuff. But how, when and in what capacity they will be introduced, I can't say either. At least not right now.

Obviously, if you want new features, and old bugs taken care of, I need you to tell me all about them. Don't sit quietly and suffer. Instead, post in the forum, or email me and I'll see what can be done! If I don't know you have a problem, I can't fix it. Maybe your favourite chart is not available yet. But It could be put on the chart. See? I'm all about charting. It's my business to remove your graphing difficulties, so please let me know what they are, and what features you want to see.

In summary, I sell ChartsEngine. Please help me smarten up, and post whatever you want in the forum. That is, as long as it relates to charts. For ChartsEngine. For LiveCode. And also for a sneak peek of great things to come with a future chartsEngine update.
