RunRevLive.11 Scholarship
Recession Proofing the RunRevLive.11 conference...

by Mark Taoilinn

RunRevLive.11 is just around the corner and anticipation for the event is really heating up. That's piggybankwhy we're delighted to offer a scholarship program to ensure that anyone who wants to attend is given the chance to attend.

At RunRev we have always been intensely proud of the support we get from the loyal LiveCode Community. Developers, educators, hobbyists and students alike - the feedback and encouragement that we receive from you all inspires us to keep making LiveCode even better, and we thank you for it. We don't want to exclude any of you from participation in RunRevLive.11 and we know that some don't have much cash available, especially in these hard times. This scholarship program is our way of showing our appreciation and giving back where we can.

What is the RunRevLive.11 Scholarship Program?
The RunRevLive.11 Scholarship Program is your chance to get a ticket to RunRevLive.11 at a heavily reduced cost*. The only thing about your ticket that will be reduced is the price. A RunRevLive.11 scholarship entitles you to full attendance at the RunRevLive.11 conference in San Jose*. Over 4 days you will be given the opportunity to talk to the LiveCode Gurus, meet the RunRev team and network with other developers and learn how to get the very best out of LiveCode in over 40 different sessions.

Who is the RunRevLive.11 Scholarship Program for?
The scholarship is aimed primarily at students, educators and charities, but we don't want any deserving developers to miss out on the conference because they are unable to afford it. If you are keen to attend the conference we want to hear from you.

For students (and anyone new to LiveCode) the first day and a half of the conference focuses on up-skilling new users - taking you from "zero to hero" with LiveCode. We start with the basics and walk you through creating your first app in a day and a half of interesting, structured, hands on sessions. Best of all this will be a great chance to attend a professional programming conference and meet potential future employers.

Educators will also have the chance to add to their skill base. We will have sessions on Artificial Intelligence, User Experience & Application Design, using LiveCode on Desktop, Mobile, Linux and Servers. The focus of the conference will be mobile, we'll show you how to harness your students' love of mobile to make interesting, engaging lessons that your students will relate to.

The scholarship program is an invaluable chance for charities to learn how to leverage the popularity of mobile. Learn how you can connect with potential donors, volunteers and supporters through that ubiquitous beast that we all carry around in our pocket/purse with us all of the time. With our app kitchens our Gurus can work with you on your apps and help you create an interface where the public can donate online or via mobile phones or tablets, wherever they are.

It's not just for students, educators or charities though. We want to give generously to the whole LiveCode community - if you think you should be considered for a reduced price ticket, we want to hear from you. Just show us why you can't afford to pay full price for your ticket and we'll consider your application on its merits.

How do I apply for a RunRevLive.11 Scholarship Ticket?
Apply for ScholarshipIt couldn't be easier to apply. Simply send an email to support@runrev.com telling us who you are, why you think you should get a scholarship ticket and how much you can afford to spend on the ticket, in no more than 300 words. Please put RunRevLive Scholarhip Application in the subject line. That's all you need to do. We'll take it from there and let you know if you have been successful.

What is RunRevLive.11?
Where have you been?! RunRevLive.11 is the biggest RunRev event of the year. It's being held over 4 days in the Dolce Hayes Mansion in heart of Silicon Valley, from April 26th - 29th. The conference will have over 40 sessions from hands-on LiveCode tutorials to interactive app building sessions. You can meet the RunRev team and interact with other developers, educators, students and LiveCode hobbyists.

There will be 2 keynote addresses. The first is from Kevin Miller, RunRev CEO and the second from our guest speaker, Mike Gualtieri of Forrester Research. You'll also have the chance to meet some VIP guests including Mike Markkula, Robert Cailliau and Bill Atkinson.

If you can't be there in person, you can still get a Simulcast ticket and take part from home.

* attendees will need to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. * There are a limited number of these tickets available. We will assess applications on merit and our decision is final, no correspondence will be entered into. Making a low bid doesn't automatically exclude you, however, we do have to achieve a certain minimum average price per seat. Students, educators and charities will receive higher priority than individuals, but if you think you have a strong case to make, then let us know. We'll consider every application.
