It's About Time
Long time Runtime Revolution users have already been able to participate in some excellent third party supported Revolution
conferences in previous years. The two of the three RevCon West events that I attended in Monterey, California were excellent
informational and networking events. In that time, not only has the number of new Revolution users rapidly increased, but also the use
of Revolution Studio and Revolution Enterprise by major North American corporations and the US government. We are also seeing a very
high conversion rate from users kicking the tires with Revolution Media moving to
Revolution
Studio or Revolution Enterprise.
It is About Who You Know
Conferences are a great way to meet with your peers, expand your knowledge about Revolution, and meet with the Revolution team. If
you attended one of the RevCon West events, you already know how valuable it is to meet with long time community members. Direct
feedback from participants at RevCon West for example, tell us that meeting community members has resulted in collaboration on projects
that were simply too large for just one or two independent developers.
With the new location and date, we can also bring more of the Revolution team than ever before. There will be a special event during
the conference of significant interest to Enterprise users that are already addicted to CEO Kevin Miller's new monthly State of the
Revolution updates on the exclusive Improve Revolution mailing list. If you want to get State of the Revolution updates, you must be a
current Enterprise customer and be approved for this list.
Viva Las Vegas
Why Las Vegas - and why January? There are two major industry events that take place in January that are significant to the Runtime
Revolution user base: MacWorld Expo and Consumer Electronics Show.
MacWorld Expo takes place in San Francisco, but for the first time in
many years, it does not take place at the same time as Consumer Electronics Show. While a
very significant number of Revolution developers develop on Windows and Linux, a significant number of developers also develop on or
deploy to the MacOS X platform as a part of their cross-platform development strategy - including Mac OS X PPC, Mac OS X Intel and even
Mac OS Classic.
Consumer Electronics Show is now over 40 years old, yet its significance has never been
stronger. The show is relevant to Revolution users for a variety of reasons. First and foremost - it is an excellent venue for launching
consumer oriented software titles - not only for general release interest it gets from the press but also to catch the attention of
bundling and OEM partners for your products. The CES web component lets industry professionals search for, contact and organize meetings
with interested companies. Getting a pod to show your products at CES is not any more expensive than showing at much smaller events. CES
isnt just for the likes of Microsoft, Intel and Sony.
You will be amazed at the number of independent vendors bringing new technology to the market and looking for integration partners.
Why not San Francisco? We love San Francisco, however the cost of holding an event there is very high. In addition, its possible to
find special package travel deals to Las Vegas from every major North American city and quite a few countries - including Scotland!
