Recently, we ran a survey of our users to establish a number of things, but principally to discover your thoughts on the learning materials provided by RunRev, both now and in the future. Thank you very much to everyone who took part, it was very helpful and much appreciated. The prize draw will be held shortly and we will announce the results here, so stay tuned.
Many who took part have expressed curiosity as to the results. What did we learn? Well, quite a lot. We learned that you would like to learn more! It is clear from the results that the idea of a subscription revAcademy service has strong support, and that it needs to be well planned, with substantial content and regular sessions. We are looking at providing this service later in the year, with a dedicated tutor to run it and several streams of difficulty, from beginner materials to more advanced concepts.
It is also clear that there is a place for more freely available content, and we are looking to provide this immediately, using the existing lessons area of our website. From our survey, we could see that a lot of you have yet to discover this extremely useful resource, so if you haven't already checked it out, please do head on over to lessons.runrev.com and see what is on offer there.
Over the coming weeks and months, we will be committing to posting at least 4 new lessons every week from our development team, covering the common questions that people ask us, as well as showing you brand new tips and tricks. The advantages of doing this are multiple. Addressing one simple question at a time means you can drill down to find the answer to the particular problem you are wrestling with. It's also a much easier task for our developers to create this kind of content. The content is searchable, and linked to our extensive dictionary which is also available online and updated live. The information posted will be current, and take account of any quirks that may exist in the implementation. Screenshots and code snippets make it easy to follow and re-use in your applications. You, the end user, can comment on the lessons, add your own tips, and give us feedback on how useful or otherwise you found a particular lesson. Its a great way to provide both very basic beginner material, and explain more advanced features of Rev, in easily digestible bite-sized chunks.
