Brand New Knowledgebase for You
Join our latest initiative to empower you with information

by Heather Nagey

They say knowledge is power. We all know Rev is amazingly powerful and capable of many wonderful things, but how many of these things do you actually know how to do? Do you find yourself tripping up on the detail, wondering exactly how you achieve... xyz? Do you spend precious time searching the docs, the forums, posting appeals for help to the user lists? You're not alone. Now we are bringing you another tool to empower you with that vital information.

The brand new Rev Knowledgebase is taking shape, and you can be a part of it. It's right here. Are you unsure about installing 3rd party externals? Or maybe you could use a helping hand with revServer? These short, bite sized lessons have been easily created using Screensteps and cover items that come up again and again on the forums. Yes, the information is out there already, but information is only as useful as your ability to find it...

Here at Rev HQ we are already hard at work creating more lessons to populate this valuable new resource, but we need your help. If you think you could contribute a topic or you've answered a question on the forums or lists that has more general applicability, and you have 10 minutes to spare (really, that's all it should take!), please email us and we'll arrange an account for you to make your contribution.

The Rev user community is one of the best out there, always willing to help out a newbie, or sharing information with each other to smooth the path of Rev programmers everywhere. Over the years it has become one of the greatest knowledge resources for Rev users, and now there is the opportunity to share this collective knowledge in an effective way, so that the same questions that come up again and again have a quick and visually illustrated answer. When someone asks, yet again, on the list, why they cannot save their data to their standalone application... the answer will be readily available.

The real beauty of this system however is that each lesson should not take long to create. You only need to answer one specific question in your lesson. The tools to take snapshots and annotate your text are beautifully easy to use. You simply upload the result with a couple of clicks, and its there to share. If you're unhappy with it, or it becomes out of date, or someone points out a flaw - no problem. You can very quickly and easily edit it - or someone else can. Tagging and categorizing means its easy to find a particular topic.

You don't need to be an all round Revolution Expert to share. If you just know one little thing that might help someone else, that's all you need. Have you recently stumbled on something you think is a really cool tip? Or maybe you find yourself answering the same question again and again - answer it one more time on the knowledgebase, and hopefully you'll never need to do it again.

We're going to be adding content to this knowledgebase in the coming weeks and months. Join us and help make this a really great Rev resource.
