Ready to Fly
Last minute preparations as the RunRev team take wing for San Jose

by Heather Nagey

Well, this is it. By the time you read this, some of us will already be in the air, winging our way to San Jose, in time for RunRevLive.11. The rest of the team are following on Saturday, giving us all a couple of days to get over the jetlag, be fresh and ready to go.

Taking Off

Not this plane, I hope.

Activity has been intense. An anxious hush has hung over the office for the last few days, as people finish off their talks and test their sample apps for presentations. Occasionally cryptic exclamations can be heard, like "the fish are escaping!" or "wow, that really works, wait, what's that doing in the corner". Interesting.

The development team has been working away like an army of beavers, as they prepare the game changing revelations they have saved up for the event. Jo, of course, is just a blur, finishing up preparations for goody bags (what treats has she created for us all this year?) making sure the Museum Trip is organized, assisting attendees to arrange extra nights, transport or accommodations for spouses and generally doing the million and one things she does to make these events run smoothly. If you're coming to the conference and you haven't received your welcome pack yet with information about getting to the hotel and so on, just let her know.

glassIf you're not coming to the conference but you live in the area, don't forget you can still come along to our Wednesday evening event, with drinks, nibbles, and a fascinating talk on "Three Megatrends Shaping Your Future In Application Development" by Mike Gualtieri. Just register here for free.

Personally, I have been shopping. A lady has to look her best for such an important event. And you shoes can never have too many pairs of shoes, just ask Jo. As one of the few members of the team that will not be giving a talk, thankfully I don't have a speech to prepare. I have been told that there is a "Customer Services" desk set aside for me, and I look forward to chatting with you there. I will make sure there is a nice comfortable chair ready, so be sure to stop! I'm really looking forward to putting faces to the names I've been corresponding with all these years, as well as meeting some of the newer customers I'm only just getting to know. If you still don't "get" the new store, you want advice on the best license upgrade route, you'd like to talk about your latest project, or you just want to say "hi", you will be most welcome. See you there!
