Spreading the Word in Japan Claire Bradin Siskin of the University of Pittsburgh will conduct an introductory workshop, "Join the Revolution!" at the WorldCALL Conference in Fukuoka, Japan, on August 6. "CALL" refers to Computer-Assisted Language Learning, and WorldCALL is the global association of all the major organizations that are dedicated to CALL. More information about the workshop is available here. Runtime Revolution are delighted to sponsor this event by providing free training licenses for the workshop. In this session, Claire will be assisted by her husband Marc, who manages the Modern Language Resource Center at Carnegie Mellon University. Claire and Marc are both longtime enthusiasts of Runtime Revolution, which they find to be an ideal tool for developing language learning applications. She maintains a couple of Revolution-related websites, "Revolution for Language Learning", and "Revolution Templates for Language Learning". Her aim is to provide language teachers with ideas for computer-based materials which they can adapt to suit their own purposes. Claire is not a programmer, but luckily for her, Marc is an accomplished scripter! She has also been helped considerably by attending 3 Revolution conferences in Monterey and Las Vegas. She is especially grateful for the patient guidance provided in the beginners' workshop conducted by Devin Asay and Jacqueline Landman Gay in 2006 and for the supportive listserv community.
