Revolution Learning Events this Spring
Opportunities for attending Interactive Lessons and Exercises Using Revolution

If you are interested in attending courses teaching Revolution I have several events to tell you about. Revolution is being presented at Drexel University, plus a session was recently held at the Computer-assisted Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO) Symposium, and another is scheduled for the Northeast Association for Language Learning Technology (NEALLT).

Revolution at e-Learning 2.0

One of the things I do with Revolution is make interactive demonstrations and
exercises for my Statistics classes. I would also like to make them for my Sensation & Perception class but I haven't devoted the time to that class yet. You can download some of my programs here:

I also teach online versions of both these courses. The conference was designed by Drexel University to present and discuss e-learning technologies. The presentations also cover general technology applications in education. My programs are also part of the on-line courses. As I am sure you know, education was a primary application environment for Hypercard and now Revolution. These programming systems allow everyone to program faster and easier. Revolution is perfect for this kind of application.

I do a brief introduction to Revolution. The people who attend are usually familiar with programming. Many are former Hypercard programmers who stopped when Hypercard was no longer developed. Some are just curious about what Revolution might be. Most do not know the fine points of programming but want to make things on the computer. They find the focus on Java and C++ daunting and virtually impossible to learn. Being able to download a limited version of Revolution is very helpful in getting them started.

About the Presenter Mike Williams is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Drexel University. He uses Revolution to design classroom exercises for in-class and e-learning courses and to design neuropsychological tests for research and clinical practice.

Revolution for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment

Claire Bradin Siskin and Devin Asay have just presented a workshop for the Computer-assisted Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO) Symposium, which was held at Arizona State University on March 11. There were 2 sessions, "Getting Started with Revolution," and "Moving Forward with Revolution".

The one coming up will take place on April 3, at the conference of the Northeast
Association for Language Learning Technology (NEALLT) , to be held at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. This one will be conducted by Claire Siskin and her husband Marc Siskin.

Workshop participants will learn about Revolution and hopefully be inspired to use it. Several examples of its capabilities will be demonstrated. Participants will then be guided through the process of creating a simple module that incorporates text, images, audio, and video. They will be provided with a CD, handouts, and online resources to extend their knowledge.

About the Presenter Claire Siskin directs the Robert Henderson Language Media Center at the University of Pittsburgh and has been teaching with Revolution since 2005. She uses Revolution to develop software for testing foreign language speaking proficiency.
