New Academy Launches
We're proud to bring you our latest Academy, teaching you how to make the hit Mobile Touch game SheepHerder

by Heather Laine

People with far too much time on their hands, who watch our store and website closely, may have noticed that we have now placed a new little icon in the storefront, titled "SheepHerder Game Academy". After several months in the making, we now have available to you, in 5 easy lessons, the step by step process involved in creating this nifty little mobile touch app.

Before you all shout at once, yes, we are aware that many of you will be receiving this academy free as part of your Kickstarter pledge. Now that it has arrived in store, if you made a pledge of £12 or more you can expect to receive instructions by email in the next few days as to how you can get this into your account for free, as part of your reward.

This Academy is the first solo Academy created by our Techical Support guy, Neil Roger, and we feel he has made a very fine job of it. In 5 short videos he covers the basic principles of creating this type of app, and of course these principles will be applicable in many other situations. Learn how to create a timer and a sprite object. Find out how to place objects on a screen without letting them fall off the edge or land in "forbidden" areas such as the menubar. Skin your app, add touch controls and deploy to iOS. All re-useable skills, and at the end of the course you should have created a fully functioning edition of SheepHerder for yourself.

As with the highly successful App Academy, every video is accompanied by online written documentation with code you can copy and paste.

Specially for newsletter readers, I have obtained permission to share with you the first lesson of the Academy - you will find it in article 4 of this newsletter. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful!
