Speakers and Sessions - find out some of the exciting topics we'll be presenting at this historic conference

by Heather Nagey

September is approaching faster than you would believe possible, and we're stepping up a gear in our preparations for the Edinburgh RunRevLive.09 conference. We've now published a list of confirmed speakers, as well as an outline of the topics we will be covering.

We expect to add to the speaker list in the next few weeks, and of course will keep you updated on developments both on the site, and here through revUp. We already have confirmed:

Kevin MillerKevin Miller, Runrev CEO

Kevin will give you the keynote speech and bring you all the latest news on Runrev plans for the web, Revolution 4.0, and future directions we might take.

Mark Waddingham, Runrev Director of TechnologyMark Waddingham

The Man Who Knows about the inner working of Revolution, its engine, the direction the technology will be taking and how it will get there, is always a popular speaker at these conferences! He tells me people do like to offer him free drinks at the bar, but he assures me he is never indiscreet...

Bill MarriottBill Marriott, Runrev Director of Marketing

Bill has been driving the marketing of Revolution for some time now, with notable success. He is also somewhat of an expert on using Databases with Revolution, and will surely have some interesting insights to offer this year.

Devin Asay

Jacqueline Landman GayDevin Asay, University Lecturer, Brigham Young University and Jacqueline Landman Gay, Software Developer, HyperActive Software

Devin and Jacque very successfully presented at our beginners course last year, and are excellent at explaining Revolution concepts in a way that even newbies can understand. They are back by popular request and we look forward to their sessions this year.

Ben BeaumontBen Beaumont, Runtime Revolution, Revolution Product Manager

Ben is looking forward to presenting some multimedia content this year. His debut talk last year was very well received, and widely acknowledged to have been both entertaining and informative.

You can read more about the speakers and keep updated on new additions here.

Also confirmed are some of the topics we expect to cover. Front and center of course, is the launch of Revolution 4.0, with the eagerly anticipated Web Plugin. Our beginners course this year will take the plugin as its base material, and teach you how to use it to deploy Revolution to the web. We'll also be covering the security model in depth, and when and where you should use the plugin as opposed to the desktop edition of Revolution.

Popular subjects such as Multimedia and Databases will feature on the program, and we'll take you through using the Datagrid and Behaviors, two of the most talked about features added in Revolution 3.5.

Also covered in depth in the RunRevLive.09 program is On-Rev, irev, and serverside scripting. If you've never done any of this before, attend the beginners session on serverside scripting and find out what its all about. If you are more experienced, come along to the sessions on Ajax, learn about integrated ecommerce and CMS, or make your databases do fancy tricks.

Learn more about the sessions and keep up to date on developments here.

All in all, this is shaping up to be the biggest, best and most exciting Revolution conference to date, and I for one can't wait to meet you all there! If you haven't got your ticket yet, be sure and sign up by May 31st, to get the best discount and the option to pay in installments.
