New Rev, New Website
A quick tour of our beautiful new website

by Heather Nagey

If you've been to our website since the launch of 4.0 on 11th November, you will have seen it has undergone an astonishing transformation. Hopefully, you like it! Our website developers and graphics team have been working overtime to bring you this shiny new experience, in conjunction with the launch of 4.0.

Obviously, the graphics and branding have undergone a sea change, but this is not the only thing that has changed, and not all the changes are "just" cosmetic. The intention is to bring to you, the user, an overall better, sharper, more focussed experience, and make it easier for you to find exactly what you were looking for.

The top bar navigation for example, now unifies our websites so you can move easily and seamlessly between, say, the revMedia site, and the main site.

There are handy buttons on the right, so you can navigate to the on-Rev site or our consulting services, without hunting around for links. The world of Rev is expanding to encompass the server environment as well as web and desktop, and here is where you can jump off to the part of our site that is most directly relevant to you.

Also featured on the front door are some stunning new video case-studies. Thanks to all who participated in making these with us! You can now view footage discussing Rev used in industry, business, game creation and teaching. It was certainly a revelation to me to find out the dramatic and varied ways in which Rev can enable different people to achieve their widely differing aims.

Let's not stop at the front door though. Come on in! Working in support, I'm always interested first in the resources available to help you get the best out of Rev, so I've taken a good look at the new "Developer" section. Brand new in here is the Docs area, and the Lessons site.

Lets take a look at docs.runrev.com first. In here you can access the entire dictionary, online, and even add notes and comments yourself.

Not only that, you can see any related lessons that may exist and other tutorials which may be relevant to the topic you were looking up. For example, at the foot of the entry for "Close File" you will find this information:

Click on the "File Input/Output" link, and you will go to the lessons area, where this lesson is available to you:

Now you can explore the links on the right of this screen, which will lead you to other lessons and areas of interest.

We're very excited about this crosslinking of materials, as we feel it will make it much easier for you, the developer, to find the depth and breadth of information you are looking for.

What else does this new website have to offer? Well, you need to head over and take a look around! Another completely new area you might find interesting is the brand new company blog. Yes, I was there for the Go-karting episode... and no, I did not come in last - though there was some dispute as to how the scoring was being done...

Do let us know what you think of our new website, we hope you like it as much as we do!
